Getting to River Garden Belihuloya or Becks & Woods Cottages by bus is convenient and scenic. From Colombo, Kandy, or Ella, take a long-distance bus heading to Badulla, Bandarawela, or Haputale. If traveling from Colombo, you can even pre-book your tickets for added ease. You can request to be dropped off near the Belihuloya Rest House at the there, it's just a short walk or quick road crossing to the resort. The journey offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and lush greenery as you near Belihuloya.
Driving to River Garden Belihuloya from Colombo, Kandy, or Ella is straightforward and offers stunning scenery along the way. From Colombo or Kandy, the drive takes around 3 to 4 hours via the A4 highway, passing through Avissawella and Ratnapura before turning off at Belihuloya. If you're coming from Ella, take the A16 route towards Wellawaya and then join the A4 at Beragala, continuing towards Belihuloya. Along the way, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of rolling hills, waterfalls, and peaceful rural landscapes. The resort offers free parking facilities for guests arriving by car.Belihuloya junction, which is along the Colombo-Badulla route, or ask the driver to stop directly in front of the River Garden Restaurant and Reception—many drivers are happy to oblige.
While there is no direct train to Belihuloya, you can take a train from Colombo Fort, Kandy, or Ella to Haputale, Bandarawela, or Idalgashinna on the Kandy-Badulla railway line. Once you arrive at any of these stations, you can hire a taxi or tuk-tuk for the 30-40 minute scenic drive to River Garden Belihuloya. Alternatively, buses traveling towards Balangoda or Colombo are available from Haputale and Bandarawela stations. The train ride itself is one of the most beautiful in Sri Lanka, offering views of mist-covered hills, verdant tea plantations, and dramatic landscapes.
